SHE BUILDS Conference 2025
Discover the vision behind the Academic Woman Foundation as its Chair, Dr Anatu Mahama, shares the story of the foundation’s creation, its driving purpose, and its commitment to empowering women across industries.
Dr Mahama is a UK-based Ghanaian academic and a Senior Lecturer in International Business Management at Anglia Ruskin University, Peterborough, within the Faculty of Business and Law. She also serves as the Co-Academic and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Lead, championing initiatives that promote inclusive education and equitable opportunities.
Founded in 2020, the Academic Woman Foundation was established with a clear mission: to inspire, support, and amplify women’s contributions across all sectors while advocating for inclusive policies that advance gender equity.
The foundation’s work aligns strongly with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
- SDG 5 – Gender Equality
- SDG 4 – Quality Education
- SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth
