Is a Senior Research Scientist and Manager of the Water Resources Research Centre at the National Nuclear Research Institute, Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, where her work in isotope hydrology and environmental water science supports the sustainable management of Ghana’s water resources and wetland ecosystems. She has been involved in national stakeholder meetings on groundwater resources management in Ghana and serves as a Task Team Member for the AMCOW Water Vision and Policy for Africa. She supervises postgraduate students and serves as an external examiner for theses at the University of the Western Cape, the University of KwaZulu-Natal and Durban University of Technology. She is an organizing member of the Pan African Hydrogeologist Congress and has served as Session Chair for its 1st and 2nd editions. Dr. Laar is also a dedicated advocate for women in science, serving as Co-Chair of the IAH Burdon Groundwater Network for International Development and as an active member of the Women in Chemistry Network-Ghana and Women in Nuclear Ghana. She has been actively involved in advocacy for women in science and in mentoring young people to pursue academic excellence.
